Anna's Story

Anna Jean Hamilton, 83, of Ashland, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, June 1, 2017.
A native of Boyd County and a 1952 graduate of Boyd County High, she was the daughter of the late William Clifford Cantrell and lda Mae Williamson-Hensley.
Anna Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Gene Hamilton; two sons, John Frederick Nolan and George Nolan; a stepson, Wayne Hamilton; her daughter, Brenda Nolan-Wilson; two grandsons, Joshua Porter and Michael Donta; five brothers, Charles, Jim and Clyde Cantrell, Gary and Doug Hensley; and a sister, Bethel Ann Cantrell.
A loving mother and sister always with the prettiest smile that brought light literally into the room. Anna "Jean" greeted everyone with that smile and her warmth. She immediately began cooking. She had to feed everyone who entered her house. No one ever left hungry. She will be missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by one son, Greg Nolan of Ashland; and five daughters, Gail Lober (Larry,) of Bellingham, Va.; Bonnie Parsons of Ashland, Lisa Fannin (Russ) of Ashland and Sonia Jones (Phillip) of Huntington, W.Va.; a stepdaughter, Jeanette Wendhorst; l7 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Harriet Smith, Edith Cantrell Dearfield, Nettie Trimble and Betty Cantrell Nolan; three brothers, Clifford David Cantrell, Donald Lee Cantrell and Donald Hensley; and a multitude of friends.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at Kilgore & Collier Funeral Homme, 2702 Panola Street in Catlettsburg by The Rev. Harold Nolan. Final resting place will be in Kouns Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
