Anthony "Tony" Joseph Yates, 48, of Grayson, went home to be with his Lord Thursday, Sept. 28, 2017, in Community Hospice Care Center, following a long battle with cancer.
Tony was born April 18, 1969, in Boyd County, a son of Amon and Tonda Jones Yates.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Margie Maxine Jones; and his paternal grandparents, Malcom and Ruth Yates.
Tony was employed as a project manager at Calgon Carbon Corporation in Catlettsburg for 3 years. He worked as a structural designer at various engineering firms. Tony was a member of Oak Grove Church of Christ and enjoyed hunting, reading, music, church, family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Tony is survived by his loving wife of 6 years, Sylvia Yajun Yates; three year old daughter, Angelina Maria Yates; a brother, Stephen (Krista) Yates of League City, Texas; his maternal grandfather, Winnie Jones; a niece, Sian Yates of League City, Texas ; three nephews, Kyle Yates and Rob Yates, both of Grayson and Daniel Yates of League City, Texas; and several friends and extended family who all miss him dearly, but rejoice in the life he has lived and the witness for Christ he has left behind.

Tony was a good man, precious son, loving husband, patient father, reliable brother, incredible uncle and compassionate friend. Our loss is Heaven's gain.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 2, 2017, at Oak Grove Church of Christ with Donald Damron and Bradley Cotten officiating. Burial will be in East Carter County Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Malone Funeral Home and after 10 a.m. Monday at the church.
