Ardith's Story

Ardith Messer, 81 of Carter, went home to be with his Lord on Friday, June 8, 2018, at his residence. Art was born September 2, 1936, in Geisling, KY a son of the late William Newt and Margaret Ellen Haney Messer.
He was a member of the Lower Grassy Church and retired carman from CSX.
He was preceded in death by four brothers; Cleatis Messer, Aden Messer, Otho Messer and John Franklin Messer. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Freda Horsley Messer; one son Jeff (Paula) Messer of Grayson; three daughters, Pam (William) Chavers of Carter City, Diana (Kevin) Homan of Oak Ridge TN and Frances (Jesse Skaggs) Messer of Grayson; one brother, Lowell (Garnett) Messer of Carter; twelve grandchildren, Julia Homan, Michael Homan, Casandra (Corbin) Fox, Wayne Weber, Hannah Fannin, Jacob Fannin, Brandon Fannin, Kyle Jordan, Jeffrey Mongold, Jared (Anastasia) Jordan, Aloha Chavers and Kayla (Ben) Prather; four great-grandchildren; Veronica Weber, Cade Weber, Kevin Ison and Autumn Prather.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, 11 a.m. at Malone Funeral Home with Roger McGlone, minister. Burial will be in the Horsely Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
