Billy E. "Bill" Brown, 74, of Ashland, died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2017, in King's Daughters Medical Center.
He was born June 25, 1943, in Ashland, to the late Robert and Bertha Barber Brown.
In addition to his parent, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 38 years, Ruby Marie Perry Brown in 2014; a sister, Mary Lou Conley; and a brother, Jack L. Brown Sr.
Billy was a 1961 graduate of Ashland High School. He was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and Ashland Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. 350. He was an avid U.K. fan, loved horse racing and served honorably in the U.S. Navy. He retired from Flowers Bakery after many years of service and had worked in Security at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.
He is survived by a brother, Robert Brown (Jane Lassiter) of Muncie, Ind.; four sisters, Peggy Meade, Linda (Homer) Miller, Brenda Miller, Sandy Patton (Tony Walker) and Debbie Brown Cyrus (Roger Forrest), all of Ashland; a sister-in-law, Lorriene Brown of Ashland; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great- nephews.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1, 2017, at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East with Thorney Artrip officiating and military rites by U.S. Navy and American Legion Kenova Post 93.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday with an Elks Service at 12:30 p.m. at Steen Funeral Home 13th Street Chapel. After the graveside service a memorial dinner and time of fellowship will be at the Ashland Elks Lodge 350 on Carter Avenue.
