Billy "Bill" R. Lamb, 79, of Catlettsburg, peacefully passed away Friday, July 28, 2017, in Kings Daughters Medical Center, with his loving family by his side.
Mr. Lamb was born Feb. 13, 1938, in Stirrat, W.Va., a son of the late Luther and Delilah Jarrells Lamb.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jess Lamb; and a sister Joyce Johnson.
Mr. Lamb was a Vietnam Veteran and retired from the U.S. Navy with 20 years of service. He worked for Stone & Webster Engineering and then began a long career as a Boyd County Deputy Sheriff, having served under sheriff's Troy Dixon and Phillip Sturgill. He served as Court Bailiff for Judge Marc Rosen.
Bill was a Mason of the Grand Lodge of Kentucky F&AM, Green Hill Lodge 521, Valley of Covington, Orient of Kentucky, Scottish Rite of Freemasonry and a member of El Hasa Shrine.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lois Spurlock Lamb of Catlettsburg; a son, Shawn Lamb of Catlettsburg; a daughter, Jennifer (Mickey) Barber of Grayson; a brother, Raymond (Patty) Lamb of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; and a host of family and friends.
A military graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 3, 2017, at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East with military rites by U.S. Navy and American Legion Post 93.
