Billy M. Waugh, 81, of Ashland, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2017, at his residence.
Billy was born Nov. 6, 1935, in Carter County, a son of the late Charles and Cosby Jordan Waugh.
Billy's father moved the family to Ashland when he was just seven years old. He was a 1952 graduate of Ashland High School and attended Ashland Junior College. He was a dedicated member of Gospel Light Baptist Church and with his wife served faithfully in the food and clothing pantry and the care and upkeep of the church. He also attended Durbin Independent Baptist Church and was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He delivered meals on wheels in Ashland for several years and worked at Armco Steel Company briefly before a long and distinguished career with 33 years of service at DuPont's Wurtland Plant as a Chemical Operator.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Charlene Rowe Waugh of Ashland; two sons, Stuart Waugh and wife Lauren of South Point, Ohio and Charles Eric Waugh of Ashland; a sister, Eldora "Dody" Greening of Ashland; and two grandchildren, Lucas Samuel Waugh and Baby Boy Waugh expected soon.
A private graveside service will be Friday, Aug. 25, 2017, at Rose Hill Burial Park with full military rites.
There will be no visitation.
