Bonnie F. Hays, 72, of Ashland, passed away Sunday, September 24, 2017 at her residence. Bonnie was born May 22, 1945 in Wytheville, Virginia, a daughter of the late James Andy and Alice Rose. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Roy M. Hays Sr. in 1979; son Rodney M. Hays in 2012; brothers, James P. Johnson and George Rose; and her sisters, Shirley Gravley and Jane Bassetti.
Bonnie has been a resident of the Ashland area since 1983. She was very active with the Army ROTC program at Paul Blazer High School during her children's high school years. She retired from the housekeeping department of King's Daughters Medical Center after many years of service. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed by her family and close friends.
Survivors include her children Roy M. Hays Jr. and wife, Linda, of Rush, Rex Hays of Ashland, Randy Hays of Plain City, OH, Becky Hays and husband, Rolo, of Rush, Malene Collins and husband, Danny, of Elizabethtown, KY; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, September 29, 2017, at the Steen Funeral Home 13th Street Chapel by Pastor Danny Pancake. Burial will be in Franklin Hills Memory Gardens in Canal Winchester, OH.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
