Brother Paul's Story
Brother Paul Henry Schmidt, 54, of Grayson, went to be with his Lord Monday, June 5, 2017, at his residence.
Brother Paul was born Jan. 3, 1963, in Bellefonte, a son of the late Henry Bascum and Alta May Scott Schmidt.
He started preaching at the age of 18 attending and graduated from Boyce Bible College in Louisville preaching at Elizabeth Jarrell Baptist in Louisa, 2nd Baptist Church in Ashland, Hyland Heights in Catlettsburg, First Baptist Church in Inez and currently First Baptist Church of Grayson.
He was a member of the Martin County Board of Education for 10 years where he also was assistant football coach. This past season he was asked to be the Chaplain for the East Carter High School football team.
Brother Paul is survived by his wife of 32 years, Jean Kitchen Schmidt; three sons, Paul Henry (Paige) Schmidt Jr. of Inez, Joshua (Lauren) Schmidt of Grayson and Brother Samuel (Andrea) Schmidt of Nicholasville; a brother, James Russell Schmidt of Raceland; two sisters, Alice Elnora Diedrich and Mary Rose Schmidt both of Wurtland; two grandsons, Samuel Luke Schmidt and Paul Henry "Trey" Schmidt III; and first cousins who he thought of as a sister and brother, Linda Scott Hixson and Bruce Hixson.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Grayson with his sons Samuel, Joshua and Paul Henry Schmidt assisting Donnie Fox and Paul Badgett. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Inez and from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Grayson.
Malone Funeral Home in Grayson is in charge of arrangements.
