Charles E. Cassity Sr., 88, of Ashland, passed away Thursday. July 20, 2017, in Community Hospice Care Center.
He was born Oct. 25, 1928, in Blairs Mill, the son of the late Elmer and Maud Easterling Cassity.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in deah by two sisters, Martha Greene and Anna Lou Hill; three brothers, Bobby J. Cassity, Lowell Thomas Cassity and Coleman Cassity; and one grandson, Steven Barnhill.
He was a retired mechanic in the trucking industry, a lifelong member of Ironton VFW Post 8850, member of Moose Lodge 892 and a World War II U.S. Navy Veteran.
He is survived by his special friend, Maggie Cantrell of Ashland; one daughter, Vanessa Barnhill of Barboursville, W.Va.; one son, Charles E. Cassity Jr. of Mansfield, Texas; five grandchildren, Andrea Barnhill, Charles J. Cassity, Phillip Cassity, William Cassity and Christopher Cassity; three great-grandchildren, Brooke Barnhill, Mykayla Cassity and Mykenna Cassity; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services and burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday July 24, 2017, at Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens with Rev. Bill Smith officiating. Military rites will be by Ironton VFW Post 8850.
There will be no visitation.
