Charles William Nolte Sr., 92, of Westwood, passed away Thursday, Dec. 21, 2017, at his residence.
Charles was born Jan. 13, 1925 in Ashland, to the late Charles C. and Augusta Jauchius Nolte.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Della Frances Whitt Nolte; one daughter, Susan Nolte Kitchen; and two sisters, Frances Nolte and Helen Nolte.
Charles was a 1943 graduate of Ashland High School, where he was Commander of the ROTC. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Philippines. He later worked at Armco Steel, where he would retire as Foreman at Bellefonte Blast Furnace. He was past president of Westwood Boys Club, Past President of Westwood Lions Club, former Masonic Lodge member and a charter member of Sky Hawks R.C. Club. He was a member Pollard Baptist Church.
He leaves behind two sons, Charles William Nolte Jr. and wife Erin of Westwood and Richard Nolte of Westwood, who has been his caregiver for the past few years; and a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2017, at Caniff Funeral Home in Westwood with The Rev. Bill Vallance officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m Tuesday at the funeral home.
