Clayton's Story

Clayton Walter Wilson, 95, of Ashland, formerly of South Point, Ohio, passed away Friday, May 12, 2017, in Woodland Oaks in Ashland.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn B. and Mona Blake Wilson; his wife, V. Catherine Beckett Wilson; three sisters, Lucille Johnson, Carrie Russell and Mary Mooney; and two brothers, Glenn B. Wilson and Gene D. Wilson.
Clayton was a World War II U.S Air Force Veteran and received the Legion of Honor medal, which is the highest French order of merit for military and civil merits. He was a retired sheet metal worker and a member of Local AFL-CIO 24.
He is survived by two sons, Robert C. (Toni) Wilson of San Jose, Calif., and Michael C. (Leigh Ann) Wilson of Ashland; two stepgrandchildren, Evan Jenkins and Kenzie (John) Brown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express a special thank you to the staff at Woodland Oaks for their exceptional care and to caregivers Christina Pack and Loretta Stamper-Martin.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at Schneider-Hall funeral home in Chesapeake, Ohio with Rev. John Street officiating. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens in South Point, Ohio.
