Darlene's Story

Darlene Hutchinson Kouns went to be with our Lord and Savior July 31, 2017.
She was born Aug. 20, 1935, in Ashland, and was one of 10 children. She lived in Ashland until moving with her husband and six children to Vero Beach, Fla., in 1969.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Elizabeth Hutchinson; two brothers, Estil and Charles Hutchinson; two sisters, Ersil Fraley and Ruth Wheeler; her husband, Jimmie "Pappy" Kouns, whom she was married to for 62 years; and a grandson, Chad Kouns.
Darlene worked with Indian River County School District, as a cafeteria manager at various schools. She retired after 30 years of service. Darlene spent an additional 14 years working with guest services at Leisure Square.
Darlene is survived by three brothers, June Roy Hutchinson, Gerald Hutchinson and David Hutchinson; two sisters, Wanda Ison and Midge Everman; six children, Jimmie (Yong Hui), Ronnie (Tracy), Dale (Sandy), Donnie (Toni), Connie (Jerry) Johnson and Kim (Jimmy) Schlitt, all of Vero Beach; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren, with more on the way.
A Memorial service was Saturday, Aug. 5, 2017, at Community Church Grace Chapel.
