David Justice passed away suddenly Aug. 23, 2017, in Lexington.
David was a 1966 graduate of Ironton High School before receiving his B.A. in English from the University of Kentucky. Justice went on to graduate number one in his Naval Officer Training class before serving the next six years as a Bombardier Navigator. His next four years were spent in the reserves. During his time in the military, David earned the rank of Lt. Commander.
The next chapter of David's life was spent as a student of law at the University of Kentucky, where he served as student body president. Upon graduation, David spent the next 35 years practicing law. His legal career began with Creech and Curtis Law firm in 1983. Later Justice became a full time partner with Martin, Picklesimer, Curtis and Justice law firm.
His last 11 years were spent serving as the Commonweath's Attorney for Boyd County where he earned the reputation as a tough but fair prosecutor.
"The Big Dawg's" love for life and jubilant personality began on September 10, 1948, in Catlettsburg. His charisma and wit captured the attention of anyone fortunate enough to share a room with him.
David was an avid U.K. sports fan, traveler, reader, fisherman, grill master and spent countless evenings enjoying fine dining.
David spent his free time as a member of various organizations. He was a life time member of the Eagles, Elks Post 350 and an active member of The American Legion post 76 where he achieved State and Post Commander. His stories and wisdom will continue to bless all that knew him.
David was preceded in death by his father, Curtis Wayne Justice Sr.
He is survived by his mother, Esther Kimbler Justice Burroughs; his loving wife of 30 years, Cindy Justice; three beautiful and thoughtful daughters, Stevi Nolan (Scott), Casey Faulkner (Rick), Brett Justice and their six children, twins, Brannon and Justice Nolan, Blake Justice, Sadie Nolan, Hudson Faulkner and Camden Faulkner; his seven siblings, Curtis Justice Jr., Ruth Fogt, Grace
Smith, Steve Justice, Cheryl Burch, Mark Justice and Lynette Dickison; along with many other relatives, colleagues and friends.
A celebration of life will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, August 31, 2017, at the Elks Lodge.
