Denver Dee Yates, 70, of Flatwoods, passed away Friday, Aug. 11, 2017, in Trinity Station Retirement Community in Flatwoods.
Mr. Yates was born Dec. 6, 1946, a son of the late Dennis Raymond and Grace Mae Baker Yates.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Yates was preceded in death by one brother, Preston Raymond "Pat" Yates; and two sisters, Helen Wright and Hilda Russell.
Mr. Yates was a 1965 graduate of Russell High School, worked as a laborer for CSX and a member IBFO union for the railroad, was a member of American Legion Elwood Stringer Post 325, a Corporal for the U.S. Marine Corps and a Vietnam Veteran. He was of the Baptist Faith.
Mr. Yates is survived by two loving sons, Greg Dee (Tracy Ann) Yates of Jordan, Minn., and Allen Ray Yates of San Angelo, Texas; three brothers, Harley (Betty) Yates of West Jefferson, Ohio, Perry (Sherry) Yates and Bill (Erin) Wright, both of Flatwoods; four sisters, Diane (Buck) McGraw, Brenda Conley, Bonnie (Gary) Salyers and Kathy Henry all of Flatwoods; four grandchildren, James, Tony, and Patrick Yates and Sedona Posch; and a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2017, at Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods with Deacon David Daniels officiating.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2017 and after 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Avenue, 7th Floor New York, NY 10001.
