Donald "Don" Beacher Disney passed away Jan. 29, 2018, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, following an extended illness.
He was born Dec. 9, 1931, in Pond Creek, to the late Alec Frost and Allie Rice Disney.
Donald attended Ashland High School and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1949. He was quickly deployed to Korea, where he was a Prisoner of War for 33 months, earned the Army's Combat Infantry Badge and two Purple Hearts. Upon his return home, he was honored by the City of Ashland with a large homecoming parade.
Donald attended the Illinois Institute of Technology, where he studied electrical engineering before returning to Ashland to join the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 317. He was a recipient of IBEW 55 year member pin.
Don was preceded in death by his son, Wesley Disney; and two brothers Paul Disney and Walter Disney.
Don is survived by his wife Carolyn; a daughter, Stephanie Disney (Wick Sewell); and four grandchildren, Joseph Sewell and Rudy Sewell of Ashland and Sarah Disney and Virginia Disney of Lancaster, Ohio.
In keeping with Donald's wishes, he was interred at Kentucky Veteran's Cemetery North East, following a private family service. Don had a gentle spirit and a servant's heart. He was loved by all who knew him.
