Donald C. Kirk, 86, of Ashland, passed away, Thursday, Nov. 2, 2017, in Boyd Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born Sept. 11, 1931, in Rush, to the late Noble and Dovie Borders Kirk.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Gay Kirk; and a sister, Anna Lou May.
Don was a member of Ashland Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. 350, American Legion Post 76 and was a Kentucky Colonel. He was a Korean War Veteran, served in Army Medical Corp, retired from AK Steel and Ross Realty. He was an avid Bluegrass fan, musician and participated in many Bluegrass activities.
He is survived by his wife, Yvonne Kilburn Kirk of Ashland; son, Joe (Carolyn) Kirk of Ashland; daughters, Cathy Jean Blackburn of Frenchburg and Cindy Rae (John) Salyers of Ashland; stepsons, Terry (Selma) Dean of Ashland, Ricky (Cheryl) Dean of Greenup and Chris Dean of Ironton, Ohio; brother, Andrew (Lois) Kirk of Catlettsburg; grandchildren, Johnny Salyers, Shelly Brown, Jody Fultz, Becky Blackburn, Lauren Kirk, Andrea Dean, Shawn Dean, Aaron Dean and Michelle Dean; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 6, 2017, at Steen Funeral Home Central Avenue Chapel with Pastor Michael Smith officiating. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery with military rites provided by Kenova American Legion Post 93.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
