Earl Eugene Belford, 60, of Greenup, went to be with the Lord Thursday, Dec. 21, 2017, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Belford was born Aug. 9, 1957, in Russell, a son of the late Denver and Beatrice Mae Arnett Belford.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Lawrence Belford.
Earl worked in the Greenup County School System for 35 years, where he was a school bus driver not only driving kids to and from school but also for all the sporting events. He was a paraeducator for 25 years at Greysbranch elementary school. He was a member of Load Fire Department.
Earl was inducted into Greenup County District Hall of Fame for outstanding service to Greenup County School District Students.
On Nov. 18, 2017, he was recognized as WSAZ News Hometown Hero for outstanding community service. Earl was always so kind and always smiling. He loved the kids and thoroughly enjoyed his jobs with them.
He was an inspiration to many around him and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Geneva Kay Howard Belford; one step-daughter, Diana (Greg) Bailey Griffith of York; two brothers, Lloyd (Sherry) Belford of Greenup and Kenneth (Trish) Belford of Greenup; three sisters, Diana "Lou" (Ernie) Via of Greenup, Belinda Gail Belford of Greenup and Rhonda (Dean) Abdon of Greenup; two brothers-in-law, Darrell Howard of York and Jerry (Deb) Howard of York; one sister-in-law, Sue Duncan of Marion, Ohio; one granddaughter, Whitney Griffith; one great-grandson, Johnathan Griffith; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 24, 2017, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup by Pastor Danny Brown and Brother Robbie Bond. Burial will be in Jones Cemetery in York.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday and after noon Sunday at the funeral home.
