Emma Salisbury Blankenship

Emma Salisbury Blankenship Mrs. Emma Salisbury Blankenship, 75, of Russell, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2017, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
She was born Aug. 4, 1941, in Charleston, W.Va., the daughter of the late Ernest and Beulah Mae Woods Salisbury.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Cletus Oliver Blankenship; and one brother, Phil Salisbury.
Emma was a member of God of Prophecy in Raceland. She retired from the Russell Board of Education as a school bus driver after 29 years and had been a telephone operator for three years. Everyone knew her as Ms. Emma. She was someone who never met a stranger. She enjoyed working on puzzles, watching University of Kentucky basketball and talking to others.
Emma is survived by two sons, Keith Blankenship (Nikki) of Flatwoods and Kevin Blankenship (Melanie) of Richmond; five grandchildren, Austin Chandler Blankenship, Oran Smith, Jenny Voeltz Albarez, Todd Voeltz and Brennan Gilliam; and many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
Graveside services will be at noon Friday, June 16, 2017, at the Robinette Cemetery in Catlettsburg with her son, Kevin Blankenship officiating.
Friends may meet the family at 10:45 a.m. Friday at Russell High School to line up for the procession to the cemetery.
Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill is in charge of arrangements.
