Floyd's Story

Floyd Emory Adkins, 79, of Catlettsburg, passed away Saturday, February 17, 2018, in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.
Mr. Adkins was born March 31, 1938, in Greenup County, KY, son of the late Arlie and Nellie Pennington Adkins. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Leva Opal Burton Adkins; daughter Pam Keeton; and grandson, Adam Keeton.
Floyd was a graduate of Wurtland High School and retired after 30 years of service from Armco Ashland Works and Allied Chemical/Sement Solvay where he was a train operator and worked on the ovens.
His hobbies included being a UK fan, dirt track race cars, hunting, fishing, loved model cars and liked to play guitar. He was a member of Oakland Avenue Baptist Church.
Surviving is daughter, Lisa Stevens and her husband, Teddy, of Greenup; grandchildren, Josh (Heather) Keeton, Matthew (Beth) Keeton, Kyle Stevens, Brittany Keeton, Courtney Stevens and Joseph Keeton; and great-grandchildren, Elijah, Amber, Devan, Trenton, Bella and Bentley; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral service for Mr. Adkins will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 22, 2018, at Neal Funeral Home, 2409 Center Street, Catlettsburg. Chaplain Phillip Duncan will officiate. Final resting place in Golden Oaks Memorial Garden.
Visiting hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
