Frances Slusher Shelton, 89, of Ashland, passed away Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017, in Kingsbrook Life Care Center in Ashland.
Frances was born Aug. 8, 1928, in Ashland, to the late Ernest and Hilda Simms Slusher.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe Shelton; three sisters, Verna Lee O'Brian, Opal Kincaid and Christine Capps; and two brothers, Paul Slusher and Howard Slusher.
Frances was a secretary at W.P. Renfroe Elementary school, where she retired after 30 years of service. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and a former member of Order of Eastern Star Westwood Chapter 569.
She leaves behind her son, Greg (Judy) Shelton of Flatwoods; one daughter, Jo Ellen Fowler of Westwood; one sister, Joyce (Bill) Holbrook of Russell; three grandchildren, Michelle Daughtery, Natasha West and Rebecca Rogers; and six great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2017, at Caniff Funeral Home in Westwood with Pastor Michael D. Rice officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
