Fredrick Franklin


Fredrick Franklin "Fred" Childers, 58, lifelong resident of Catlettsburg, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2019, at Community Hospice Care Center, surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Childers was born March 14, 1961 in Ashland, Ky. to the late Bill and Irene Nolan Childers.
He was also preceded in death by brother, Charlie Childers and sister, Joyce Mills.
Fred was a 1979 graduate of Boyd County High School, and retired in 2006 after 29 years as Manager and Operator of the Waste Water Treatment Plant. His hobbies were hunting, fishing, collecting knives, woodwork, and basketball. He was of the Baptist faith.
Fred is survived by his adoring wife of 28 years, Jackie Vaughan Childers; children, Jon Childers, Amanda Hardin (Adam), Kellie Childers (Travis Davis), Billy Childers, all of Catlettsburg; five grandchildren, Dakota, Jordan, Kaiden, Raelea, and Holton. Also surviving are brothers, Larry Childers (Joni), Cecil Childers (Cheryl), Darrell Childers (Jessica), all of Catlettsburg; sisters, Robin Prince (Gary) of Catlettsburg, and Toni Sawinski (Jeff) of Ashland.
Funeral Service for Mr. Childers at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 16, 2019, at the Neal Funeral Home, 2409 Center Street, Catlettsburg. Pastor Jeff Ferguson will officiate. Final resting place in McCoy Cemetery, Catlettsburg. Visiting hours are 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at the Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Catlettsburg Church of God, Food Pantry, 105 36th Street, Catlettsburg, KY 41129.
