Fredrick William "Bill" Schaffner Jr., 84 of Greenup, passed away Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017, in Community Hospice Care Center.
Mr. Schaffner was born July 6, 1933, in Ashland, to the late Fredrick W. and Ruth Webb Schaffner.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Clyde Richard Schaffner; and a daughter, Ruth Ellen Schaffner.
Bill attended Boyd County High School and served his country in the U.S. Navy. He retired from Armco Steel and was a truck driver. His hobbies included antique cars. He was a member of Mt. Olivet Freewill Baptist Church.
Left to cherish his memories are his adoring wife of 63 years, Rosetta Faye Tussey Schaffner; their children, Fredrick William Schaffner III and wife Debbi of Rush and Rose Ann Lightle and husband Marion of Greenup; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Phillip Edward Schaffner of Louisa; and two sisters, Frances Marlene Baker of Catlettsburg and Janet Sue Schaffner of Greenup.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017, at Mt. Olivet Freewill Baptist Church, 21610 KY-3 in Rush with Pastor Keith Crum officiating. Final resting place will be in Ross Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
