Gary Edison Griffith, 64, of Sandy Hook, passed away Jan. 4, 2018, in Kings Daughters Medical Center.
Gary was born May 1, 1953, in Carter County, the son of the late Johnny Boyd and Thelma Pauline Ison Griffith.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Gary Michael Griffith; two brothers, Delmas and Harold Dean Griffith; and a sister, Brenda Howard.
He was a member of Upper Bruin Enterprise Baptist Church, Hepburn Lodge 576 and formerly a member of El Hasa Shriners. He was a heavy equipment operator, mechanic, carpenter and enjoyed doing woodwork.
Gary is survived by his loving wife, Libby Wilburn Griffith; seven children, Christopher Shawn Griffith and Michelle, Justin Dale Griffith and Brittany, Nikki Griffith and Nathan Stevens, Samatha Jo Griffith, all of Sandy Hook, Arica Jean Ledbetter and Preston of Rockingham, N.C., Johnny Boyd Griffith and Brandy Mayse, Cassie Brianna Griffith, all of Sandy Hook; his grandchildren, Bryant Lee, Christopher Jacob, Shaligh Renee, Devin McGale, Bryston Dale, Paisley Jade and Shawn Logan Griffith, Jeremiah Zane Ledbetter, Braylen Michael Griffith, Ryder Riggsby, Maggie Lewis, Katy Eldridge and Jonathan and Blake Fultz; two great-grandchildren, Savannah and Ayden Eldridge; two brothers, Donnie and Vicki Griffith of Sandy Hook and L.D. and Becky Griffith of Inez; a sister-in-law, Joann Griffith of Sandy Hook; a brother-in-law, Donnie Howard of Sandy Hook; several nieces and nephews; and a host of loved ones and friends will sadly miss him.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Upper Bruin Enterprise Baptist Church. Burial will be in Griffith Family Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, with a Masonic Service by Hepburn Lodge 576 at 7 p.m., at Lewis & Ferguson Funeral Home and after 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to help with funeral expenses.
