Gloria Jean Dickerson George, 89, of Ashland, passed away Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017, in Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale, Fla.
She was born Oct. 13, 1927, in Ashland, the daughter of the late Charles D. and Minta Dexter Flannery Dickerson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Homer George; a sister, Virginia Gallaher; a half-sister, Mabel Evans; a brother, Charles L. Dickerson; a half-brother, Clarence Dickerson; and three grandchildren, Jennifer Sargent, P.J. Sargent and Justin Carrigan.
She was a homemaker and attended Advance United Methodist Church.
She is survived by three daughters, Linda George of Winter Haven, Fla., Kathy Carrigan of Dresden, Tenn., and Cindy (Mark) Wilson of Florence; six grandchildren, Stephen Haney, Brian Haney, Fannie Elkins, Gregory Carrigan, Jessica Ellegood and John Sargent; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017, at Miller Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8, 2017, at the funeral home.
