Henry Ford Burge Mr. Henry Ford Burge, age 95, of Grayson, Kentucky, passed away Saturday evening, February 2, 2019, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky.
He was born October 21, 1923, in Carter County, Kentucky, a son of the late Clarence and Carrie Marshall Burge.
Henry proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WWII and was of the Pentecostal faith. He worked until his retirement for the Westling House in Columbus, Ohio, and for the Carter County Board of Education. Henry enjoyed riding his side-by-side, checking on his cattle and spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Dixie James Burge, and one sister, Maxine Duncan.
Henry is survived by one son, Freddie Burge (Roxann Miller) of Grayson, Kentucky; one granddaughter, Stephanie Collier of Grayson, Kentucky; three great grandchildren, Tyler Ison and Cody Ison, both of Grayson, Kentucky, and Harley Collier of Lewis County, Kentucky; two great-great grandchildren, Brantley Ison and Charlie Ison; and one step grandson, Daniel Wheeler of Grayson, Kentucky. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 8, 2019, at Grayson Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Grayson, Kentucky, with Brother Daniel Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Grayson Burial Park in Grayson, Kentucky, with full military honors presented by the Kenova American Legion Post 93.
Friends may visit from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, February 7, 2019, and after 9 a.m. on Friday at Grayson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 49 McCoy Road, Grayson, Kentucky 41143.
Tyler Ison, Cody Ison, Harley Collier, Phillip Duncan, Calvin Duncan, and Arthur Burge will serve as pallbearers.
