Jack Elwood Wooten, 85, of Barboursville, W.Va., formerly of Catlettsburg, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2017, in Chateau Grove Senior Living in Barboursville.
Mr. Wooten was born Sept. 18, 1931, in Catlettsburg, to the late Beecher and Olga Moore Wooten.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his daughter, Rita Scarberry Hulett; a mother-in-law, Sara Adeline Childers; and two brothers, Paul Wooten and Don Wooten.
Jack served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a Purple Heart recipient. He later retired as a truck driver and worked for Nehi Bottling, Point Express and Consolidated Freight.
He is survived by his adoring wife of 64 years, Dorothy Lee Childers Wooten; a son, David Paul Wooten and wife Debbie of Hobe Sound, Fla.; a daughter, Teresa Wooten of Barboursville, W.Va.; two grandchildren, Deidre Gail Merkle and Jack David (Beth) Hulett; three great-grandchildren, Jordan Blair Merkle, Carly Hulett and Kendra Hulett; one brother, Ellis (Jeanie) Wooten of Marion, Ill.; and special family friends, Bolts and Chaneys.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 7, 2017, at Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens with military rites by Kenova Post 93 and U.S. Army with Don Bolt officiating.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday at Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home, 2702 Panola Street in Catlettsburg.
