James F. Moore, 87, passed away Monday, Aug. 21, 2017, in St. Joseph Mt. Sterling Hospital.
He was born April 15, 1930, to the late Issac and Georgia Stewart Moore.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers, Forrest Moore, Lindsey Moore, Paul Moore, Arthur Moore, Issac Moore, Fred Moore and Ralph Moore; two sisters, Ruby Terry and Ella Sexton; and his youngest son, Jeffrey Dean Moore.
He was a member of First Church of God, a Korean War veteran and retired from AK Steel after 42 years.
He is survived by his wife, Mattie Bowling Moore; two sons, Jimmy Moore (Suzan) of Old Forge, N.Y., and Raymond Hicks of Williamstown; one daughter, Tammy Hicks Howard of Ashland; five grandchildren, Dr. Courtney Jones, Dustin Moore, Andrew Moore, Joshua Howard and Samuel Howard; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, 2017, at Taul Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Sterling with Grant Canoy and John Bradley officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in Kentucky Veteran Cemetery North East in Greenup County.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2017 at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be American Legion Post 22 members.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Courtney Jones, Dustin Moore, Andrew Moore, Joshua Howard and Samuel Howard.
