James Robert Walker, 88, of Flatwoods, passed away Saturday, March 10, 2018, in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.
He was born June 6, 1929, in Mahan, W.Va., a son of the late Raymond and Cecile Vandall Walker.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James Ray Walker in 2017.
Jim was a graduate of Kingston High School in Kingston, W.Va. He served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and retired after thirty years of service from Owens Illinois in Bridgeton, N.J., where he was Lead shift foreman and installed and repaired electronic equipment. After Owens, he was employed for 25 years with G4S in Ashland.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Betty Jo Spencer Walker of Flatwoods; a daughter, Vickie Lynn Walker of Waldorf, Md.; a grandson, Shane James Walker of Flatwoods; a sister, Betty Schoolcraft of East Bank, W.Va.; and two brothers, John Walker (Dorothy) of Ashland and Thomas Walker (Mary) of Mountain Home, Ark.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at Steen Funeral Home Central Avenue Chapel with words of comfort by Rev. Jim Pridemore. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens with military rites provided by U.S. Army and Kenova American Legion Post 93.
Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
