Text size

The greatest promotion was received Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018, as Jeanne L. Overton was promoted to glory by her Heavenly Father.
She was born Aug. 4, 1924, in Huntington, W.Va., to William R. and Anna G. O'Keefe Overton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Violet M. Overton, Dorothy E. Overton and Mildred Overton; and three brothers, Bramwell W. Overton, William F. Overton and Phillip W. Overton.
Jeanne was a Salvationist for many years. She was enrolled as a soldier of The Salvation Army in Huntington, W.Va., at a very young age. She was a wonderful Christian person, her favorite scripture was John 14:13, "And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the son." She attended the Salvation Army for many years after moving to Ashland. She was very active in the church, loved to attend and was a member of the home league until her recent illness.
She is survived by Scott and Ann Cron, with whom she lived during her sickness and she promoted as her family; Majors Garnett and Tim Bartram of Flatwoods; host of loving friends, Pauline McClave, Sgt. Majors Jimmy and Sara Skinner, Chris Wolfe and Gary Chaffins, whom she loved; and her Community Hospice team, Kristy Hall, Desteny Scott, Samantha Spencer and Teresa Watts.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m Friday, Jan. 19, 2018 at Reger Funeral Chapel in Huntington, W.Va., with Cpl. Sgt. Major Jimmy Skinner and Major Owen Gillium officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
