Jerrel Frederick "Fred" Stanley, formerly of Ashland, passed away Jan. 10, 2018, in Memphis, Tenn., in Methodist Hospice House.
He battled a long fight with cancer.
Jerrel was born in Nov. 9, 1940, in Michigan, to the late Jerrel W. Stanley and Vesta White Stanley.
He was preceded in death by a sister, June Cremeans of Ashland; a brother, Rodney Stanley of Ashland; two brothers-in-law, Keith Watts and Daniel Senters, both of Ashland; four nephews, Stanley Cremeans of Maryland, Charles Senters, Jerry Grubb and Gary Stanley, all of Ashland.
Fred retired from Armco Steel with 39 years of service and was a Vietnam veteran with four years of service in the Army.
He was a wonderful outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and golfing with friends and family and was a huge UK fan.
Fred is survived by his wife, Sandra D'Angelo; a daughter, Shelly and Thomas Hammonds; a grandson, Henrik Hammonds, who was his faithful sidekick; two sisters, Karen Senters and Jill Watts of Ashland; one brother-in-law, Gene Cremeans of Ashland; two aunts, Melba White and Zola White of Ashland; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews; loads of cousins and friends; and his beloved dog, Abbey.
A memorial service will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018, at Preston Family Funeral Home.
He will be missed and was loved by all. He went home!
