Olive Hill Businessman Mr. John C. "J.C." Raybourn, 79, of Olive Hill, Kentucky, passed away Sunday evening, September 24, 2017, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was born May 23, 1938, in Carter County, Kentucky, a son of the late John A. "Skinny" and Nixola Blizzard Raybourn.
J.C. proudly served in the United States National Guard and was the owner and operator of Raybourn's Auto Parts in Olive Hill. He was a 50-year member of the Olive Hill Masonic Lodge 629, El Hasa Shrine Temple in Ashland, Kentucky, and a past president of the Carter County Shrine Club. J.C. enjoyed being the Olive Hill U.K. Wildcats arm chair coach and spending time with his family and friends, especially with his great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty Gee Raybourn; one son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Carolyn Raybourn of Olive Hill, Kentucky; two daughters, Jerri Ann and Fitch Lowe of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Nicola Raybourn of Olive Hill, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Betty Jo Lindell and Josh, John T. Raybourn, Justin R. Dixon and Cara, Jacklin D. Horne, and Jacy D. Nolen; seven great-grandchildren, Lucas Raybourn, Amelia Raybourn, Presley Dixon, Parker Dixon, Jackson Horne, Eli Horne and Charlie Joe Horne; and one sister, Carol James of Olive Hill, Kentucky. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 28, 2017, at Olive Hill United Methodist Church in Olive Hill, Kentucky, with Brother Terry Dean and Brother John Lambert officiating. Burial will follow in the Olive Hill Memorial Park in Olive Hill, Kentucky, with full military honors presented by the Olive Hill American Legion Post 138.
Friends may visit from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, September 27, 2017, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Kentucky, and after 10 a.m. on Thursday at the church.
A masonic service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 27, 2017, by the Olive Hill Masonic Lodge 629.
Tim Raybourn, Justin Dixon, Jacy Nolen, Josh Lindell, Donnie Owens and Mick Nolen will serve as pallbearers.
J.R. Hignite, Jess Russell Raybourn, Farron Henderson, Wilmer Conn, Richard Tackett, Mark Duncan, Fitch Lowe and Raymond Lowe will serve as honorary pallbearers.
