John Whitt, 71, of Greenup, passed away Monday, July 24, 2017, at his residence.
Mr. Whitt was born April 23, 1946, in Lloyd, to the late Hobert Whitt and Virginia Wireman Whitt.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Renita Whitt; a daughter, Kelly Cherry; a son, Mark Justin "Poog" Whitt; and a brother, Hobert Whitt II.
John was the proud owner of Whitt's Tire Town in Flatwoods. He loved playing on his bulldozer and driving big trucks. Most of all, John was all about keeping busy and working, working, working.
He is survived by two sons, John Whitt and fiancé Cheri Maddix and Jon Zachery Whitt-Cherry; two sisters-in-law, Kimberly Napier and Debbie McDermott.
He is also survived by Donnie Rowe, Chuck Nunley, Chris Barker, Caroline Fannin, David Hannah, Jeremy Jenkins; Robby Thomas and Trevor Hillard, who were like his sons; and so many other friends and family that visited the tire shop to loaf.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 29, 2017, at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwood. Burial will be in Brickunion Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, July 28, 2017, and after 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
