Kathy Jean Dickison, of Lexington, passed away Sunday, Nov. 12 2017, in UK Chandler Hospital.
Kathy was born May 3, 1951, to the late Virgil and Nelle Dickison.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Chuck Dickison.
Kathy lived a full life, graduating from Paul Blazer High School and later the University of Kentucky with a Masters Degree in English.
She taught for many years in the community college system in Maysville and Lexington, where she developed curricula for multiple new courses. Kathy touched the lives of countless students before retiring in 2003 due to declining health.
She loved writing poetry, of which she published many pieces, making arts and crafts, gardening, reading and listening to music.
She loved and was loved by her family. Kathy was a devoted mother, daughter, sister and wife.
She is survived by her son, Bysshe Easton of San Francisco, Calif.; her brother, Jay Dickison of Ashland; her husband, Clifford Cook of Lexington; a sister-in-law, Jeanette Dickison of Felicity, Ohio; her nephews, Adam Dickison of Louisville and Hunter Dickison of Bowling Green; and her niece, Lucinda Dickison of Felicity, Ohio.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2017, at Lazear Funeral Home in Ashland. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017, at Ashland First Church of The Nazarene located at 2201 Bath Avenue in Ashland.
