Kenneth Eugene Sammons, 70, of Greenup, went to be with the Lord Sunday, Sept. 10, 2017, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, surrounded by his loving wife and family.
Kenneth was born Sept. 2, 1947, in Greenup, a son of the late Roy and Olive Hardin Sammons.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by
one sister, Betty Lucas; and a granddaughter, Adrienne Blair Sammons.
He was a 1965 graduate of the former McKell High School. He was a
retired operator from AK Steel Coke Plant with 30 years of service.
Kenneth was a former pastor of Sand Hill IPCC Church, Coal Branch Mission Church and Load Independent Baptist Church. He also had been an interim preacher for Cane Creek Freewill Baptist Church and had preached at many various churches in the area.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Connie Pierce Sammons; one son, Mark (Tonya) Sammons of Lloyd; one daughter, Kristyn (Rich) Gillum of Greenup; one brother, Denver (Paula) Sammons of Lloyd; and four grandchildren, Zayne Sammons, Chandler Gillum and Kaysi Gillum.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup with the Rev. Cline McCallister and Rev. Bill Grizzell officiating. Burial will be in Brick Union Cemetery in Lloyd.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and after noon Wednesday at the funeral home.
