Kenneth Gerald Barber, 82, of Catlettsburg, husband of Jenny Barber, passed peacefully from this life on Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at his home following an extended illness.
Kenny was born February 11, 1935, in Ashland, to the late George W. and Melinda Morris Barber.
He attended Russell Schools and graduated from Deland High School in Florida.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He retired as a carman with C&O Railway - CSX. He was also a member of Cannonsburg First Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, Kenny was preceded in death by three brothers, Jackie, Theodore and Junie Barber; and six sisters, Beulah Mayberry, Captola Virgin, Bertha Wells, Mary Belle Barber, Doris Virgin and Genevieve Stollings.
Kenny is survived by his loving wife of almost 62 years, Virginia "Jenny" Coburn Barber of Catlettsburg; four sons, Gerald (Myrtle) Barber of Wheelersburg, OH, Matthew (Penny) Barber of Catlettsburg, Nathan Barber of Catlettsburg, and Adam (Angel) Barber of Flatwoods, KY; seven grandchildren, Christopher, Angela, Nik, Haley, Tanner, Baylee and Alayna; two great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Bryson; along with a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 4, 2018, at Caniff Funeral Home by Pastor Stan Williams. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park.
Visitation will be Thursday noon-2 p.m. at the funeral home.
