Larry was born April 17, 1950 in Ashland to the late James and Virginia Adams Sturgill.
In addition to his father he was preceded in death by one sister Rosemarie Sturgill Roark.
Larry proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy where he retired as a machinist.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 47 years Deborah Kay McComas Sturgill; two sons Gregory Sturgill of Virginia Beach, Va., and Scott Sturgill of Moncks Corner, S.C.; three daughters Melanie Welch (David) of Silverdale, Wash., Jennifer (Michael) Stokes of Summerville, S.C., and Tiffany Sturgill of Ashland; two brothers Jimmy Sturgill and Fred Sturgill both of Ashland; ten grandchildren Robert Brooks, Christina Brooks, Arthur Diaz, Victoria Diaz, Isabella Welch, Anthony Hooks, George Hooks, Vanessa Hooks, Madeline Crank and Parker Parlor; three great-grandchildren Ian Brooks, Aubrey Mangual and Alana Mangual; along with a host of extended family and friends.
Graveside services will be 12 p.m. Friday, January 11 at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Northeast. Military honors will be provided by the United States Navy and American Legion of Kenova Post 93.
The family has entrusted Caniff Funeral Home in Westwood with the arrangements.
