Lawrence E. Felty, 90, of Grayson went to be with his Lord Tuesday, April 4, 2017, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
Lawrence was born Dec. 30, 1926, in Stinson, a son of the late Leonard and Britta Easterling Felty.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Conley Felty in 2005; one daughter, Connie Jean Conley; five brothers, James Felty, Clarence "Butch" Felty, Elwood Felty, Eugene Felty and Billy Felty; and one sister, Lucille Damron.
He owned and operated his own sawmill for many years and was a minister for 17 years at Denton Missionary Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served his country during World War II. He was a member of Wilson Creek Missionary Baptist Church.
He is survived by one son, Charlie and wife Sherry Felty of Rush; one daughter, Linda and husband Leo Roe of Carter City; one sister, Loretta Felty of Grayson; three grandchildren, Amanda Newman, Matt Roe and Jeremy Felty; three great-grandchildren, Wesley Newman, Wyatt Newman and Matthew Roe; and two great-great-grandchildren, Royal Newman and Lilliah Newman.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 8, 2017, at Malone Funeral Home in Grayson with Chris Bellew and George Boggs officiating. Burial will be in East Carter County Memory Gardens. Friends may call after 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
