Mary Kathyrn Lewis Black, 86, of Catlettsburg, passed away at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
Mrs. Black was born Aug. 14, 1931, in Catlettsburg, to the late Floyd Thomas and Monie Bailey Lewis.
She was a member of Cyrus Chapel Methodist Church. She graduated from Boyd County High School and retired from Boyd County Schools as an office manager after 25 years of faithful service.
Through the years she worked at Cooper Elementary, Cannonsburg Elementary and Catlettsburg Junior High Schools. Mrs. Black enjoyed camping and fishing with her family. She also enjoyed bluegrass music and gospel music.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Roger Black and wife Debbie of Matthews, N.C., Larry Black and wife Debbie of Somerset, Ohio, and Robert Black and wife Brenda of Catlettsburg; six grandchildren, Amy McKee, Sarah Smith, Brian Black, Elizabeth Clark, Kim Houston and Kevin Black; and seven great-grandchildren; her sisters, Thelma Black of Catlettsburg, Cassie McGoldrick, Sarah Rice and husband Robin all of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; and a brother-in-law, Bill Clark of Florida.
She was preceded in death by a great-grandchild, Brandon Black; her brothers, Jesse Caudill, James Lewis and Floyd (Sue) Lewis; her sisters, Gladys (Dan) Burk, Ilene Clark, Maxine (Cecil) McFarland and Dorothy (Charles) Arthur; and brothers-in-law. Ray Black and Dennis McGoldrick.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017, at Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home, 2702 Panola Street in Catlettsburg with Pastor Kyle Vanover officiating. Final resting place will be in Black-McKnight Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017, at the funeral home.
