Maxine Davis Vanhoose Borders, 96, of Ashland passed away Sunday, March 4, 2018, in Oakmont Manor in Flatwoods.
Mrs. Borders was born May 25, 1921, in Catlettsburg, to the late James Corbett and Esther Virginia Newcombe Davis.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Everett M. Vanhoose and Charles Borders; a son, Rufus E. Vanhoose; a grandson, Mike Vanhoose; two brothers, Eddie Davis and Carl Davis; and three sisters, Martha Davis, Beulah Bollinger and Yuetta Short.
She was a graduate of Thomas R. Brown High School, a beautician for several years and retired in 1979 from YMCA as Director of the Women's Health Center. Maxine was a member of Rose Hill Baptist Church.
Maxine is survived by her grandsons, Jeff Vanhoose, Kyle Vanhoose and Matt Vanhoose; four nieces, Brenda Priest, Debbie Brown, Gemma Short and Leticia Reed; and seven nephews, Shawn Davis, Joe Davis, Tommy Bollinger, Kenny Davis, Dennis Davis and Richard Davis.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 9, 2018, at Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens with Pastor Frank Hulett officiating.
