Melissa Dawn Nance, 48, of Flatwoods, passed away Monday, April 10, 2017, at her residence.
Ms. Nance was born Sept. 30, 1968, in Ashland, a daughter of Lorraine Maust Morrison and the late Charles Edward "Pee-Wee" Nance.
Ms. Nance graduated from Russell High School in 1986 and earned her bachelor degree in sociology from Ohio University Southern Campus. She was a 22 year transplant survivor. She was "the Queen of bargaining" which is why she loved flea marketing. She enjoyed music of the heavy metal genre.
In addition to her mother, Melissa is survived by a brother, Jay (Ursula) Nance of Greenup; two sisters, Sherry (Scott) Wilburn of Worthington and Kathy (Jeremy) Akers of Raceland; four nieces; two nephews; and a stepfather, Samuel Morrison.
A memorial service will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at Shawnee Church of God in Flatwoods with Pastor Jim Stamper officiating. Burial will be Bentley Cemetery in Carter County.
Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods is in charge of arrangements.
