Monnie James, 80, of Lexington, formerly of Ashland, died Friday, Jan. 26, 2018, in Hospice of Bluegrass at Baptist Health Lexington. She was born Aug. 28, 1937, in Ashland, the daughter of the late Wickliff Sr., and Myrtle Barker Moore.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Calvin James; a son, Gregory Estep; three brothers, Ottis Moore, William Moore and Lloyd Moore; four sisters, Sarah Cripple, Ollie Mae Conley, Elizabeth Salvens and Geraldine Evans; and a brother-in-law, Carl Biggs.
She was a former employee at Stars Fashion World, Helig-Myers Furniture Store and attended Wildwood Church of God.
She is survived by a daughter, Pamela Estep (W. David) Hager of Lexington; a daughter-in-law, Pam Wessel Pore; a sister, Sophia Biggs of Ashland; two brothers, Charles (Naomi) Moore of Hillard, Ohio and Wickliff (Linda) Moore Jr., of Lexington; four grandchildren, Heather Michelle Estep (Jamey) Sellars of Ashland, Christopher Neal (Julie) Estep of Mandeville, La., Tyler Scott (Laura) Harris of Lexington and Caleb Emanuel Harris of Lexington; and six great-grandchildren, Ethan, Ella, William, Andrew, Olivia and Harper.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2018, at Miller Funeral Home by Dr. W. David Hager. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
