Nancy Ferrell Moore, formerly of LaCrosse, VA, Ashland, KY, Middletown, OH, and Concord, N.C., passed away December 18, 2017, at the Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis, N.C.
She is survived by her son, Dr. J. David Moore of Greenville, S.C.; and daughter, Dana Leigh Moore of Lexington, KY. She also leaves behind a sister, Betty Wilson of Lexington, S.C.; three beloved nieces, Marsha Bordelon Pace, Karen Wilson Howell, Janet Wilson Fowler; and many cousins and friends (whom she considered like family).
She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Moore; as well as her mother, Mabel C. Ferrell; and sister, Anne Ferrell Bordelon.
Nancy was born August 16, 1941, in Norfolk, VA.
Her family moved to LaCrosse when she was five years old and she graduated Park View High School in South Hill, VA, in 1958. She graduated from Averett Junior College in Danville, VA, and then Longwood College in Farmville, VA, where she received her bachelors degree.
She taught elementary school for years in Danville and Ashland, moving to substitute teaching once her children were born. Her retirement was very active with volunteer work that centered on helping children and seniors, traveling the USA and the world and time with friends in the Newcomers group in Concord, N.C.
Her funeral service will be private.
She will be interred with her husband at Rose Hill Mausoleum in Ashland.
