Nancy Claxon, 64, of Oldtown, KY, passed away after a brief illness Thursday, September 28, 2017, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, KY.
She was born March 5, 1953, in Portsmouth, Ohio, a daughter of the late Edward B. Litteral and Joan Evans Litteral of Argillite, KY.
She was a graduate of Wurtland High School and Morehead State University where she received her BS degree in Family Consumer Sciences and Education. Previously she worked as the Cooperative Extension Agent for Family and Consumer Sciences in Carter County. She had also worked as an administrative assistant at Oldtown Elementary then later at Wurtland Middle School and then Greenup County Board of Education. She was the owner and operator of Laurel Creek Quilting Studio at Oldtown, KY, and was the co-founder of the Oldtown Food Pantry.
She was of the Christian faith.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Casey Jo Claxon.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Phillip Claxon; a daughter, Amy Leigh Claxon of Lexington, KY; two brothers, Philip B. (Sandy) Litteral of Argillite, KY and Keith (Katie) Litteral of Hendersonville, TN; and a host of extended family, friends and neighbors.
Graveside services will be Saturday, October 7, 2017, at 1 p.m. at the Oldtown/Claxon Cemetery with Rev. Randy Edwards.
Friends may call after 12 p.m. Saturday at the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Casey Jo Claxon Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Community Trust Bank, 970 Diedrich Blvd., Russell, KY 41169.
