Nellie May Lancaster, 64, of Ashland, passed away Monday, January 1, 2018, in Community Hospice Care Center.
Nellie was born April 1, 1953, in Lincoln, Maine, a daughter of the late Clayton Sr. and Jennie Dickinson Lancaster. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by brothers, Reggie and Ronald "Bo" Lancaster.
Nellie was a graduate of Island Falls High School and attended a small college in Portland, Maine on a basketball scholarship. Nellie was employed by Verizon.
She worked and lived in Maine, New Hampshire, Ohio, Michigan and Texas before retiring and moving to Kentucky.
Nellie is survived by a son, Jason Paul Lancaster of Astoria, Oregon; two special children came into her life and were like sons to her, Lee (Joan) Nussbaum of Damascus, Maryland and Michael (Sara) Nussbaum of Brunswick, Maine,; grandchildren, Zach and Samantha Nussbaum of Damascus, and Adam and Jack Nussbaum of Brunswick; life partner, Debbie Massie of Ashland; brothers, Terry (Bonnie) Stratton of Wildwood, Florida, John Lancaster of Skowhegan, Maine and Clayton (Joan) Lancaster Jr. of Swanville, Maine.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 6, 2018, at Centenary United Methodist Church, 2901 Winchester Ave., in Ashland with Pastor David Herndon officiating.
The family will receive family and friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.
