Onley Irwin McCarty, 83, of Ironton, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2017, in King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.
The Johnson County native was born March 6, 1934, a son of the late Woodrow and Dovie Blanton McCarty.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and sisters, Lovilla Schneider, Phyllis Bush, Neva Adeline Yonts and Marvin Kendal McCarty.
Mr. McCarty attended school in Oil Springs and was of the Baptist faith. He was a member of the National Guards and a former laborer for Krolls Marina in Rosenburg, Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy Munoz McCarty; a daughter, Cathy (Joe) Castle of Ironton; a son, Rex (Terri) McCarty of Ft. Myers, Fla.; two brothers, Phillip McCarty of Cynthiana and Wendall McCarty of Louisville; six grandchildren, Brandie Layne, Olivia Huffman, Kristyn, Ryan and Megan McCarty and James Andrew Garza; and many great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 29, 2017, at Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home in Ironton, Ohio with Pastor Dewey McCarty officiating. Burial will be in Bowling Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
