Paul Vernon Barber Sr., 82, of Ashland, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017.
Mr. Barber was born Jan. 23, 1935, a son of the late Willard and Zella Fannin Barber.
He was also preceded in death by one, son Paul V. Barber III; and two brothers, Danny Barber and Elmo Barber.
After High school, Mr. Barber proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Forrestal. He continued his service in the National Guard for thirty-four years. He went on to be Captain of the Auxiliary Police in Ashland, a Kentucky colonel and a mechanic at OMS Shop.
Mr. Barber is survived by his loving wife, Frances Bandy Barber; one daughter, Cheryle (Edward) Melvin; three sons, Paul V. Barber Jr., David (Karen) Barber and Jeff Barber; five grandchildren, Bryant (Candace) Melvin, Travis (Samantha) Melvin, Christy Barber, Melissa Barber and Jennifer Barber; four great-grandchildren, Sophie Melvin, Collyn Melvin, Khloe Conley and Patrick Conley.
Funeral Services be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017, at Evans Funeral home in Raceland with Pastor Charles Rice officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10, 2017, at the funeral home.
