Paul Arthur Gallaher, 81, of Ashland, passed away Friday, November 3, 2017, at Community Hospice Care Center.
Mr. Gallaher was born November 10, 1935, in Catlettsburg, KY, to the late John D. Gallaher and Lucille Maddy Mcintyre. He was also preceded in death by one granddaughter, two brothers, and Homer Spurlock (father).
Paul attended Thomas R. Brown High School, he served his country honorably in the US Army during the Korean War, he was a paratrooper, specialist third class, 101st Airborne and retired from Armco in 1997.
He enjoyed his retired mens breakfast club each month, Catlettsburg Historian, Geneology and working in his garage. Paul was a member of Wildwood Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Dorothy Marie Hite Gallaher; daughters Donna Miller (Rick), Paula Abrams, Barbara Fitzpatrick (John), Dianna Suttles (Roy) and Leanna Gallaher; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Additional survivors include brothers, Jimmy Allen and Johnnie Gallaher; sisters, Janet Spurlock, Beth Moore, Dorothea Gallaher and Pandy Magsamen; best friends, Charlie Hart, Al Blanton, Pat Kierstead and Armco extended family.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 9, 2017, at the Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home, 2702 Panola Street, Catlettsburg. Brother Wayne Kuhner will officiate. Final resting place in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East. Military honors by Post 93 of Kenova, WV, and the US Army.
Visiting hours will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
