Paul McWain Sr., of Flatwoods, passed away Tuesday, Sep. 26, 2017, in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.
Mr. McWain was a son of the late Milton and Bertha Baldridge McWain.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Paul McWain Jr.; three brothers, Herbert McWain, Robert McWain and Sherman McWain; and a sister, Beaulah McWain Neeley.
He was fond of saying "born and raised on Straight Creek in Boyd County." Paul attended Buena Vista Elementary School and was a graduate of Boyd County High School. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1945, and retired after 20 years. He then worked at Cape Canaveral Space Center as an electrician supervisor until retirement in 1993. Paul taught himself to play guitar and wrote music. He continued to study and improve himself. He attended Straight Creek Nazarene Church.
He is survived by a son, Paul David McWain and wife Denise of Ashland; a daughter, Monique Ann White of Cocoa Beach, Fla.; two grandchildren; and a sister, Anna Lou McWain Jordan of Flatwoods.
Funeral services to celebrate Mr. McWain's life will be at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 2, 2017, at Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home, 2702 Panola Street in Catlettsburg with Pastor Frank Hewlett officiating. Final resting place will be in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East with military rites by Kenova American Legion Post 93 and U.S. Navy. Visiting hours will be after 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral Home.
