Robert Gail "Papa" Biggs, 82, of Ashland, passed away Thursday, June 22, 2017, in St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va.
He was born Jan. 27, 1935, in Olive Hill, a son of the late Robert and Edna DeHart Biggs.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Jonathan Crum; and his siblings, Champ (Helen) Biggs, Roy (Irene) Biggs, Eugene Biggs, Jimmy Dale Biggs, Loraine (Burel) Kegley, Helen Ray (Dean) Haworth, Shirleen (James) Hedge, Venus (Ed) Gee and Phillip Biggs.
Gail attended Meade Station Church of God and proudly served his country in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War. He enjoyed traveling and feeding the dogs at "the club!" Gail was the owner of Biggs Realty for 26 years and worked for Armco for ten years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Pauline Canafax Biggs; his children, Lola (Rick) Mayne, Randy (Athena) Biggs, Ricky Biggs, Ronnie (Dana) Biggs and Lisa (Jeff) Crum; his grandchildren, Robby Biggs, Lauren (Aaron) Horner, Chris Biggs, Michael Mayne, Bethany (Ron) Gehringer, Shauna Biggs, Kipp Mayne, Kate Biggs, Baley (Bryan) Rakes, Kelsey Biggs, Austin Crum, Heather Crum, Cassie Biggs, Charles (Sharon) Hearn, Ben (Heather) Hearn and Josh Lile; his great-grandchildren, Gunner Gehringer, Emma Gehringer, Paul Horner, Ethan Hearn, Erin Hearn, Ian Hearn, Colin Hearn, Aiden Hearn and Oliver Hearn; his sister, Sue Biggs Kiser; and his sister-in-law, Linda Biggs.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 24, 2017, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill with Brother Robbie Jordan officiating. Burial will be in Garvin Ridge Cemetery in Olive Hill. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may visit from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral chapel.
