Robert Douglas "Bob" Sammons, 87, of Flatwoods, passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2017, in Community Hospice Center in Ashland.
He was born Oct. 4, 1929, in Prestonsburg, a son of the late Earl and Roxie Miller Sammons.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Elsie Elkins Sammons.
Mr. Sammons was a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran and the owner of "Continuous Spouting," a gutter and siding business. He enjoyed boating, building antique cars and spending time at the flea market.
He is survived by his daughter, Roberta "Bobbi" Sargent of Flatwoods; three grandchildren, Nicholas (Kacie) Sargent of Cameron, N.C., Samantha and Isabella Sargent of Flatwoods; two great-grandsons, Emmett David and Waylon James Sargent of Cameron; one brother, Rev. Earl (Judy) Sammons of South Point, Ohio; one sister, Ella (Alex) Kirk of Lowry Crossing, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be at noon Friday, June 23, 2017, at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East in Greenup County with Pastor Mike Sargent officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Hospice Center, 1480 Carter Ave., Ashland, KY 41101.
Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods is in charge of arrangements.
